A weekend at the Domaine de Méjan
If you have followed my adventures in recent weeks you have seen that we went to the Domaine de Méjan during a weekend with Cassandra and Thibault, two instagrameurs and blogger from Aix-en-Provence. Here is finally the long awaited article, good reading!
Domaine de Marshall is located in the pretty village of Paradou, 20 minutes from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, 40 minutes from Avignon and 45km from Saintes-Marie-de-la-Mer. In the heart of Provence and under the song of the cicadas, you can enjoy nature in complete tranquillity while having the luxury of bathing in the heated swimming pool of the estate. The warm welcome and the discretion of the owners
The GPS will take you to the path of BOURGEAC-13520 the Paradou. You will think first that he was mistaken and took you to a stalemate, well not at all! You will have to take the dirt road which is in front of you, train to the cars too low, you risk to rub if you are not delicate. At the end of this path you will find the entrance to the parking area
Composed of four lodges decorated each according to a theme as well as a separate reception room, the estate will seduce you by its calm and its discretion. A haven of calm and greenery a few minutes from the hustle and bustle and tourists. The room serves just as well for weddings as for group sports classes or meals.
We were in the lodge Design, very nice with its very well equipped kitchen, its nice bathroom and its sun terrace. But especially this sweet smell of wood that makes you want to exile there indefinitely. Designed by an architect, each of the lodges offers an opening on the Alpilles, like a natural painting.
Among the lodges you will find another one with a superb terrace with spa; and a beautifully arranged container with a very nice outdoor shower.
If you choose to have breakfast, know that they are very plentiful and you will be brought on a platter with a fresh fruit juice, fruit, milkings as well as a nice basket of bread, pastries, jam and spread dough.
Beginning of the Alps, the Alpilles will offer you a rich and varied promenade. Stroll in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and surroundings, not forgetting the Baux de Provence one of the most beautiful villages in France. Many hikes are available on Visorando as well as in the various tourist offices. A region like this is discovered in several ways, whether on foot, by mountain bike during outing accompanied, on horseback, or in a balloon and in an old car; No doubt the charm of the Bouches du Rhône will touch you in the heart.
If the words of order are calm and serenity, the domain offers a wide choice of treatments face and body, reflexology, massage, it only restores you to choose what will suit you best! We had the right to a massage practiced directly in our lodge in complete privacy. Extremely professional, the masseuse has been able to connect all the tensions in my back for several weeks, I admit that I almost fell asleep so it was relaxing…
You can also discover several sports activities such as Rollness, Pilate and yoga. There is no doubt that everyone can find their account among this wide choice of activity!
If you do not wish to leave the Paradou to eat, the Bistro du Paradou will be the ideal place to spend a pleasant evening and taste the specialties of the region away from the cities. Personally I advise you not to eat in the leases of Provence in season, we found the restaurateurs unkind and the little we ate was of poor quality compared to the price, as what sometimes it is necessary to avoid the places too tourist… If you want to get away a little and eat in Saint-Remy-de-Provence I can give you some addresses like the cuisine of angels or number 25, a very nice bar or you can enjoy very good boards and roasted pie. But our favorite is the coffee of the Place. A very cute restaurant with its bright garlands that illuminate the terrace, a funny and pleasant staff, a very attentive boss and especially everything is homemade and delicious for a very very decent price. We had a great evening as a companion of Cassandra and Thibault
As quoted several times, one of the most important places of the area is of course the Baux-de-Provence, especially known for its medieval castle and its ramparts which still surround a part of the city. Ranked among the most beautiful villages in France, it hosts more than one and a half million visitors a year while the town has only 450 inhabitants per year.
Within walking distance you can admire the famous career of the Enlightenment, an ancient quarry of limestone extraction closed in 1935 and converted and exhibition venues. But not just any type of exposure since it is video projections at 360 °. Right now you can admire "Picasso and the Spanish Masters" a sound and striking light show. Open since 2012 this is a must-have place.
To know of a special package includes the entrance to the museum of the Baux-de-Provence, the castle and the quarry of lights for €18
In summary, we had a great weekend at Domaine de Méjan and I thank the owners as well as Mathieu Delrance of Bic Pom and Tourism in Provence for the invitation. If you do not know or take refuge in the time of a weekend or a stay, here is a place that deserves to be discovered!
