Last September, I finally discovered the beautiful city of Annecy about which I had been told so much. Invited by the association LAAD (Lac d’Annecy Accueil et Découvertes) and the Superfull agency for 4 days, We explored the city and its surroundings. The purpose of this trip? Let us discover what to do in Annecy, here are my top 5.
You can find my full article on our stay just HERE
1: A paragliding baptism above Lake Annecy
We start this top 5 of what to do in Annecy with les Passagers du vent at the Col de la Forclaz at an altitude of around 1000 m. A great first for me but since I have absolutely no vertigo or any apprehension of emptiness, I was in a hurry. After a briefing, the GoPro installed and some souvenir photos, I am in the air. Honestly I loved these sensations, being a bird in the sky. The incredible view, the aerobatics… Count 80 € for a big quarter hour flight. Of course it is possible to make much longer flights, up to 1 hour! The advantage of this activity is that it is open to the youngest, one of our instructors told us that he had been flying his daughter since he was 3 years old!
2: Best things to do in Annecy, a tour of the lake by boat
After seeing it from the sky, you cannot leave Annecy without discovering the lake by boat! Inevitably, we took advantage of the sun to go around the lake by boat with the Compagnie des Bateaux. It is a very nice walk that allows you to see the castle more closely and to become aware of the size of the lake! It was a bit cold when we went there but it is also possible to paddle, kayak …
3 : Découvrir la vieille-ville à pied3: Discover the old town
Admittedly, Annecy is very photogenic, between this turquoise blue water and these colorful facades, what more could you ask for? Impossible to leave without visiting the castle which overlooks the city and offers us an incredible view of Annecy and its lake. The entrance to the castle is very affordable, allow € 5.50 for adults, € 3 for children and free for children under 12.
4: An unusual night in an alti-dome
Dreaming of making your stay in Annecy even more incredible, go to the Semnoz Ecobivouac, run by Thibault. Summer and winter, alti-dome and igloo welcome you. Yes, yes, igloos because there can fall more than 3m of snow in the Semnoz at 1700m altitude! Discussions around the campfire, lighting a stove with a few logs, grilling chamalow, eating cheese … Even if you go there in summer, I advise you to take warm clothes because it is really very cold upstairs! An incredibly enriching and above all human experience. Prices: free for children under 6, 6 to 18 years € 99, adults € 149. This includes a country walk, a Savoyard aperitif, a traditional dinner, a torchlight march, a glass of liquor, a vigil around the fire, a festive evening, the unusual night and breakfast.
How better to discover a city than by eating it? During our stay we had the opportunity to eat at incredible inns and restaurants. Fresh products, local, seasonal and generous cuisine. For those who do not eat meat and sometimes fish, depending on the season it is possible to taste some fish from the lake. The Florimont hotel restaurant offers a market menu at € 20.50, which is absolutely unbeatable value for money! Auberge le Semnoz in Saint-Jorioz is also one of the addresses I highly recommend for the quality of its cuisine. La Boussole, the restaurant of the Beauregard Hotel offers a panoramic view of the lake and the mountains, very generous and at the same time very fine dishes, from starter to dessert.
I sincerely loved discovering Annecy through the eyes of those who bring this territory to life. I hope that this top 5 essential activities to do in Annecy will have made you want to discover it! There are so many activities to do and things to see. I sincerely thank the people who welcomed us during this stay, but also all those who accompanied me: Alicia, Camille, Céline, Ève, Jasmine, Olivier and Christophe. So are you coming?
